How I handled Sophia's first year of life! As everyone knows Sophias life started out rough and scary. She was born with pneumonia, this was from complications in labour. She was born at 36 weeks and 6 days and was in the hospital untill she was 2 weeks old. The way I handled having a baby in the NICU and being at home was always having my pump by my side and having a picture of her at all times. I went up to visit every morning lunch and dinner feeding and slept during the rest of the day to try and catch up for when she would be home.
When Sophia came home she slept relatively well waking up every 3-4 hours. I would feed her and lay her back down. We started tummy time as soon as possible and she was able to hold her head up within weeks! I was very proud and handled having no sleep very well. I soon became employed when she was 2 months old to be able to save some money. I then tore my c-section incision and was forced to quit. It was time just to focus. When Sophia was 6 months i was employed once again but this time it was a bit easier. I handled sophias first 6 months of life as best as I could. Her father had cheated on me multiple times but i kept him around for her sake giving him chance after chance. This was when my postpartum depression came back full swing. This was a bit tougher but we made it! From 6-9 months was a lot easier but more active! Sophia started crawling and getting into everything! At 12 months Sophia started walking!!!! This was when I really had to stay on my feet. I am now chasing after her constantly making sure she isn't getting into too much trouble. She is very intuitive and wants to touch and feel everything. Her favorite word is HI and she pretty much says it to everyone! A few things i wish i would have done differently is to have gotten more sleep when she was new born. To try harder and continued to breast feed, and to leave her father earlier than I did. Many people have different ways of handling their child's first year but my biggest life saver was my family! If i needed some mommy time they were more than willing to jump in and help ! Thank god because i wouldn't have been able to successfully complete semester 1! Hope you guys enjoyed! School update! Heey Everyone!
I hope everyone had an amazing new years eve and holidays ! I also hope all the little ones out there got spoiled. After a long and exhausting semester i have been way to busy to blog but now that i am living with my little family I have WiFi and will now have plenty of time! I passed my first semester with an amazing 82.4 average and I am so proud of myself for being able to maintain my grades and raise a TODDLER! I passed my placement piece and will now continue onto my final semester. There have been many changes in our family including my Dad being offered a job in another province way up north from where I am. This gave myself Sophia and Derek the chance to move into my fathers house. We are almost all settled and are still in the midst of cleaning. I am trying to get my school stuff ready for next semester and taking care of Sophia while Derek is definitely pulling his weight in cooking and maintaining the snow outside! We had one busy Christmas holiday! I filed papers for full custody of Sophia and My Great Uncle was killed in a head on collision and our family was grieving for most of the holiday season but I think it brought us all closer, But in a happy note. Derek gave me the most beautiful promise ring for Christmas and I am so happy to be with him and be able to plan our futures together. He is so supportive and caring ! He strains himself making sure that myself and Sophia are happy and taken care of! This will be a typical new years post but I am trying to set myself some reasonable goals for this year. Most of them include my health and relationships. With my health: 1. cut out junk food and fast food 2.walk everyday (either on treadmill or outside Bbbbrrrrrr) 3.to take care of my body by drinking WAY MORE WATER In terms of my relationships: 1.I will continue to focus on making sure mine and Dereks relationship stays healthy as possible 2.Making sure I focus on Sophia when I come home from school but be sure that I will be able to complete my homework 3.Lastly to try and set out on weekly walks with Sophia and Derek for some family time. I hope I am able to meet my goals and I hope all yous have goals of your own to make 2015 an amazing year !! |
