My Birth Story...
Okaay so as a typical new blogger i want to share with you the biggest moment in my life.. the birth of my daughter. Lets get right to it.
November 25th, 2013 ; I was in Barrie visiting my mother. We had decided to take a shopping day and go to Walmart (big spenders over here ) I was feeling a bit uneasy but in my pregnancy that was nothing new. I had morning sickness the whole way through( that was a journey within its self that i will share later) so we went on our way to go shopping. We got to Walmart and about 20 mins later I was become crampy and felt like there was a lot of pressure DOWN THERE! But as i said before i thought nothing of it and kept going. About 45 mins later I was feeling sicker than ever and was in so much pain I was in the baby section crying (the section was empty). I told my mom we needed to go back to her house. So we went back to her house and decided that i should get into the hot tub.
HELPFUL TIP- > For most pregnant women this can be dangerous. I was very anemic and had very low blood pressure. My doctor had deemed it safe for me to have warm baths.
Sophia herself had a slow and low heart beat. The hot tub made me feel much better so i thought nothing of it and maybe thought Sophia had just gotten herself twisted and has now made her way back. So i decided to stay one more night in Barrie and went to bed.
The next morning woke up and felt fine. About 430 that day i started getting cramps every couple minuets. AND THE PRESSURE IN MY BACK .....FRICKIN AWFUL ! I told my mom right away that we needed to head home ! So she drove me home and by the time i got back it was late in the day so I crawled into bed with Matthew (Sophias' father, we are no longer together) Told him we needed to go to the hospital in the morning and went to sleep.
At 800 am on November 27th 2013, I called my aunt and asked if she could bring me and Matthew up to the hospital, she agreed and i took a shower and got ready. I KNEW today was the day! So i got up to the hospital and was admitted due to the fact that i had lost my mucus plug ( TMI RIGHT? ) . They hooked me up to monitors and they couldn't believe how well i was handling my contractions because they were going right off the chart. I told them that she didn't feel right so they hurried a portable ultrasound machine up to my room, not to my surprise Sophia was bum down.
HELPFUL TIP -> Bum down babies are called Frank Breach, this can be a very dangerous position for both baby and mom. If mom tries to deliver naturally this can cause hemorrhaging and tearing.
They gave me the option to try and deliver naturally and they would try their best to flip her but they said because of my size, it would be very stressful and difficult. So i said C-section. I phoned my mother who was at her work in a small town doctors office about 45 minuets away from the hospital. She hurried up as they were preparing my operating room. I met the doctor who was to deliver me and we were on our way to getting my baby here. The preparation of the room took a few hours so about 3 o'clock was when they finally got me into the room and onto the table. My mom was the one who came into the room with me due to Matthews queasy stomach. They had already begun the operation when my mother had came in and sat beside my head, I had the anesthesiologist right beside me and a STAT NICU team ready as well.
At 4 o'clock November 27th 2013 my baby girl Sophia was born fighting for air, No cry was made from her tiny body but they asked if i wanted to see her.. They put her down almost at my head and snatched her back and ran off down the hallway. My mom went with her to see what was wrong while i was sent to recovery. I had staying in recovery for almost an entire hour just asking "someone please just check on my baby" At 530 i finally got to hold my baby. She was very tiny with her legs stuck out to the side.
HELPFUL TIP -> Frank breech babies are normally born with their legs stuck in a weird position from having their feet near their head in the womb. This effect can last up to a few weeks in some babies or a few hours in others.
3 DAYS had past and Sophia had been switched from 4 different forms of breathing machines. Tubes, Bubble, incubator tube and a cpap. I was discharged with the 22 staples still in my belly and with her still in the nicu. She had been diagnosed with neonatal pneumonia. This is when a baby is born with pneumonia from birth complications. She was breathing off of one lung and only half of the other. This means that the two sections of her right lung were filled with fluid. She was a fighter and fought she did because exactly 2 weeks later on Dec 11th 2013 we finally got to bring our baby home after she fought to gain weight and to regulate her feedings, after she fought to breath and cry, But my baby was now healthy and ready to come home in time for Christmas <3
That is my birth story and i hope you guys enjoyed it !
